Dolpo is another newly
opened area to trekkers and although it doesn't have such stunning
as many of the other treks it does have many wonderful things to experience.
Dolpo is the setting of Peter Matthieson's famous book The Snow Leopard.
This is still the home of the reclusive snow leopard as well as the
spotted leopard. Wolves, blue sheep, Himalayan mountain goats and
jackals are found in Dolpo as well. This trek winds through maple
and walnut forests on to the fertile rice terraces farmed by the various
ethnic groups that inhabit the area. The shorter of the two treks
offered winds through the southern part of Dolpo while the longer
trek explores the upper area. The seclusion and mystery of Dolpo are
still waiting to be explored. Length of trek Juphal Juphal 14 days Jomsom Juphal
