 Trekking Annapurna

Annapurna Region:
Annapurna is considered to be the most famous and popular trekking destination in all of Nepal. The area is dominated by the presence of such peaks as the Annapurnas, Dhalagiri, Manaslu, and Machhapuchre, These mountains loom in the distance throughout your trek giving you a true Himalayan experience. Trekking through the lowland villages and mountain communities will expose you to the variety of different cultures of the Gurung, Marangi, and Thakali people. There are essentially three main trekking routes available with shorter ones available. nilgiri.jpg

Annapurna Base Camp Trek: This trek gives you the opportunity to get up close to the giant Annapurna mountains as well as the holy mountain Machhapuchre. You will get the opportunity to spend the night at both base camps. You will also trek through the beautiful Poon Hill area This trek reaches a maximum altitude of 4100 m and can be done by anyone who is in reasonable hiking shape. This trek lasts 14 days including travel days from Kathmandu.

Jomsom Trek: The Jomsom trek is a wonderful opportunity to witness the beauty of the Annapurna region with a shorter trek. The 6 day trek to Jomsom is essentially the last third of the Annapurna circuit. The trip starts just north of the city of Pokhara and winds through the Poon Hill area and then passes the Dhalagiri icefall giving you a prime view of all the mountains. After reaching Jomsom the trek heads up to Muktinath, an important pilgrimage place for Buddhists and Hindu's which lies on the Tibetan border. This area gives you a look at the high and dry landscape that is the Tibetan plateau. The trek ends with a plane ride from Jomsom to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu. This is one of the lower elevation treks that we offer rising to only 3800 m.

Annapurna Circuit: This is considered to be the traditional trek in the Annapurna region. The trek circles the entire Annapurna massif gives you all the highlights of the Jomsom trek combined with the beauty of the eastern side of the Annapurnas. The highlight of this trip is the trek over the 5416 m Thong La pass. This is as high as one can get in this region without climbing a mountain. This 23 day trip tends to be more physically demanding than the other treks so good physical condition is needed.
